The Central California Youth Wind Ensemble prides itself on welcoming many young and dedicated musicians and music educators from around central California the opportunity to work with and direct the young musicians that make up the ensemble.
Cody Marchetti
Cody, principle Tuba of the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble, is a Music Education student at California State University: Stanislaus, where he will graduate in the Spring of 2017. Cody has been the low brass section leader in the CSU Stanislaus Wind Ensemble since he began his studies in 2013.
Between the summers of 2012 and 2014, Cody marched on the Euphonium line of the Blue Devils 'B' Drum and Bugle Corps as a soloist in 2013, and as section leader in 2014. During Cody's time, the Corps received two second place Open Class medals in 2012 & 2013, and received first place in 2014.
During the Summer '16 Cycle, Cody performed Ralph Vaughan Williams English Folk Song Suite with the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble.
Michael Flores
Michael, the current Percussion section leader of the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble, is the Director of Bands at Atwater High School where 170 students are actively involved in 3 concert bands, marching band, jazz band, winter percussion and winter guard. Michael studied music at CSU Stanislaus and earned degrees in Music Education and Music Composition. During this time, he also performed with the 2009 Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps as well as the 2010 Sacramento Freelancers.
Michael has instructed and written for a number of high schools throughout the region, including Madera South High School, Turlock High School, Pitman High School, Merced High School, Beyer High School, and has acted as a consultant for James Logan High School. In the independent realm, Michael has instructed the front ensembles of the Sacramento Mandarins (Sacramento, CA), Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Percussion (Santa Clara, CA) and the Blue Devils ‘B’ Corps (Concord, CA).
Currently, Mr. Flores is the front ensemble coordinator and arranger for Central Valley IMPACT Percussion (Modesto, CA), and is also on design and music staff for Merced High School and Beyer High School.
He currently serves on the board of Central Valley Guard and Percussion Circuit as the Secretary.
During the Winter '16 cycle, Michael performed Paul Hindemith's March from Symphonic Metamorphosis with the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble.
